Effect of Complex Corrosion Defect on Pipe Strength Based on Numerical Simulation

Abstract:
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:150%">Corrosion is one of the important factors affecting pipe safety. By establishing different corrosion models, the von Mises stress and strain distribution of pipe under different corrosion forms was studied, and the influence of the structural parameters of corrosion pit on the mechanical properties of pipe under the same corrosion form was explored. The results show that under internal pressure, the high von Mises stress and large strain region of the pipe appears on the axis of the corrosion pit and expands along the axis with the increase of internal pressure; four-point corrosion pit has the most obvious effect on the mechanical properties of the pipe. The larger the corrosion pit radius is, the greater the pipe von Mises stress and plastic strain is. With the corrosion pit spacing increases, the pipe von Mises stress and plastic strain decrease.</p>
