Abstract:
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;line-height:150%">In this current study corrosion behaviour of Al7075 alloy with different pre-strain was studied. Mechanical behaviour as well as electrochemical behaviour of as received and different pre strained alloys was studied in 3.5 % NaCl solution. The hardness value of this alloy increased with prestrain. The strength of the alloy is also improved with the increment of strain but the elongation of this alloy decreased. Potentiodynamic polarization test results show that the rate of corrosion increases with increasing pre strain.&nbsp; The electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) results also revealed a variation and charge transfer resistance value which also support the corrosion results. The SEM images also show a gradual degradation of the surface morphology with increasing pre strain. XRD results confirmed the precipitation of MgZn2 which is responsible for the improvement of hardness as well as strength of this alloy.</p>
