Oxadiazoles: A Promising Class of Compounds for Corrosion Protection – A Mini Review

Abstract:
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify">Corrosion is a serious problem in various industries, causing economic losses and safety hazards. Corrosion inhibitors are widely used to protect metals and alloys from corrosion. Oxadiazoles, a class of heterocyclic compounds, have attracted increasing attention as promising corrosion inhibitors due to their excellent inhibitory properties and low toxicity. In this mini review, we provide an overview of the mechanisms of oxadiazoles as corrosion inhibitors and summarize the recent advances in the development of oxadiazole-based inhibitors. We also discuss the structure-activity relationships of oxadiazoles and their applications in different industries. Finally, we highlight the future prospects and challenges in the development of oxadiazole-based corrosion inhibitors. The findings suggest that oxadiazoles hold great potential as effective and environmentally friendly corrosion inhibitors, and further research in this area is needed to optimize their performance and broaden their applications.</p>
