Abstract:
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify">The corrosion of
mild steel in acidic environments, particularly in 1 M HCl, poses significant
challenges to industries due to material degradation and economic loss. Organic
inhibitors, derived from natural and synthetic sources, have emerged as efficient,
eco-friendly alternatives to traditional inhibitors. This mini-review
highlights recent advancements in the use of organic inhibitors for mitigating
corrosion of mild steel in 1 M HCl solutions. The review discusses the
mechanisms of inhibition, key functional groups responsible for corrosion
resistance, and the impact of factors such as concentration, temperature, and
pH. Insights into molecular modeling and synergistic effects with other
compounds are also presented. These findings underline the promising role of
organic inhibitors in sustainable corrosion management.</p>
