Résumé :
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:normal">The biggest issues with mild steel have been corrosion and degradation in mechanical qualities over a short time of use. However, corrosion control has become increasingly crucial in the manufacturing industry in recent years. Mild steel (a low carbon steel type) is one of the most extensively utilized engineering materials due to its versatility, low cost, and vast industrial application. As a result, Zn-Ni-Mg-P was coated on mild steel using electroless deposition processes in accordance with ASTM B733 criteria is tested by Experimental means to combat corrosion. The coating baths were developed; containing the tin phosphorous alloy of nickel, Ni-Mg-P, The MgO was included in the baths, varying its composition between 0,2,4,6 and 8g. The coating was achieved in 30 minutes at a stirring rate of 150 rpm at a temperature of 45oC with a pH of 5. The corrosive properties of the coated steel and the uncoated steel were examined with the Potentiodynamic polarization method in 3.65% NaCl solution following the ASTM G102 standard, The SEM/EDS and XRD were used to analyze the coatings' microstructures. It was found that the coatings considerably improved the mild steel's characteristics. The Control exhibited the corrosion rate (Cr) and corrosion current density (jcorr) of 0.00046873 mm/year and 4.0338E-08 A/cm2, respectively. For the Ni-Mg-P phase, the corrosion rate (Cr) and corrosion current density (jcorr) between 0.000405 – 0.000255 mm/year and 3.4906×10-8 – 2.1945×10-8 A/cm2&nbsp; for Sample (6-9). The SEM images revealed that Sample 9 consisting of 8g/mol MgO, displayed a refined microstructure and smoother morphology than that of Sample 6 with 2g/mol of MgO. The XRD profile of Sample 6 and Sample 9 FeSn crystal exhibited the highest peak intensity of 1900 a.u at&nbsp; 2θ = 40o &nbsp;, which indicated that the coated material possessed microstructural homogeneity and high stability.</p>
